Translation:
The door to my soul has opened today!
How lucky am I to receive the rewards for my good deeds!
When was this door locked and sealed? Was this place inhabited by the wicked ones? All these days have been in vain. Perhaps, it was buried in my pile of ignorance, and hence invisible to me.
The key, that is Shri Hari’s grace, came to me, thanks to the power of Guru’s blessings. I joined the company of sincere devotees, and by meditating upon Shri Hari, I opened the sealed lock.
Everyone (and everything) around me vanished. I held tightly in my hand, the torch of Bhakti, which is also the light of Gnana and entered the door. All around me, was this beautiful palace!
This palace was flanked by nine openings, four outer and five inner (nava dwaras). The door to the higher realm was guarded by Jaya and Vijaya. Beyond the threshold, I could behold the central hall (Madhya Mantapa), which shone like a million suns. Such was the splendor of the Lotus-naveled Shri Hari’s abode!
Surrounded by realized souls, there stood the absolute blissful consciousness that is Lord Hari, embracing Sridevi and Bhudevi. Showering him with varied flowers, I stood there, witnessing Shri Vijaya Vitthala who resides inside my heart!
I will prostrate myself before your feet, O Guru Purandara! (in reference to Purandara dasaru).
O the bestower of rigorous knowledge, devotion and dispassion!
You became the moon for the bountiful ocean of milk, that is the Madhwa philosophy. You gained wisdom under the tutelage of Shri. Vyasarajaru. You composed 4,75,000* songs and dedicated to Lord Hari.
I shall relentlessly ponder upon and praise the glories of the beautiful faced Lord Veda Vyasa, who roamed about the holy rivers such as Ganga.
There is no limit to describing your wondrous qualities. I will happily serve whoever serves you, O Lord, Pannaga Shayana (the one who sleeps on the snake bed), Mukunda (the giver of Mukti), Karuna (the merciful), Prasanna (the peaceful), VijayaVitthala Sampanna (the virtuous).
*Going by other references, we have updated third line of first charanam to meaning 4,75,000 (eraderadu lakshadeppathaidu saavira) which originally read 4,25,000 (eraderadu lakshadippathaidu saavira).
